Temple's UIL One-Act Play team will compete at the Region Contest on Saturday, April 13 at Waco University High Auditorium, 3201 South New Road, Waco TX 76706. (The auditorium actually faces North Old Robinson Road.) Admission is $10 per person. Plays will be performed back-to-back with audience members entering and exiting only between shows. Listed performance times are approximated. At this level, there are now only 24 schools left in the state in the 6A classification contest.
The performance order has been modified from what was originally scheduled because of conflicts with some of the region academic contests held on the same day. Performance order and approximate times are:
(1) 1:30 p.m. McKinney High — Sweet Nothing in My Ear
(2) 2:20 p.m. Klein Oak High — Children of a Lesser God
(3) 3:10 p.m. J J Pearce High (Richardson) — Bob: A Life in Five Acts
(4) 4:00 p.m. Temple High — Baby with the Bathwater
(5) 4:50 p.m. Hendrickson High (Pflugerville ISD) — Caucasian Chalk Circle 2nd website
(6) 5:40 p.m Spring High — These Shining Lives
Two of the six schools will advance to the State Finals on Thursday, April 25, at the Round Rock ISD Performing Arts Center.
Critic judges will be Yvonne Phillips-Dupree, Mark Stringham and Lisa Hale.
Temple's entry, Baby with the Bathwater by Christopher Durang, begins as Helen (Sierra Amalbert) and John (Seth Little) gaze proudly at their new offspring, a bit disappointed that is doesn't speak English and they are too polite to check its sex. So they decide that the child is a girl and name it Daisy — which leads to all manner of future emotional and personality problems when it turns out that Daisy (Anthony Williamson) is actually a boy. The play charts the saga of Daisy's struggle to establish his identity and introduces us to the many zany characters he meets along the way. Durang is an American playwright known for works of outrageous and often absurd comedy.

Last year, Temple's entry (On the Verge) placed 4th in the state, out of over 250 5A schools. This year, Temple is in the 6A classification.
