GREAT SUCCESS at International Thespian Festival!

UIL District One-Act Play Contest is Thursday, April 1 PDF Print E-mail

UILTemple's second contest in the 2010 UIL One-Act Play competition will be the Dstrict 12-5A contest on Thursday, April 1, at the Cultural Activities Center, 3011 North 3rd Street in Temple. The performances will begin at 4 p.m. and run back-to-back. There is no charge for admission. Audience members may enter or exit the auditorium only between performances.

The approximate performance times, schools and play titles include:
   4:00 -- Harker Heights, "The Glass Menagerie"
   4:50 -- Belton, "The Cover of Life"
   5:40 -- Temple, "Degas in New Orleans"
   6:30 -- A&M Consolidated, "The Women of Lockerbie"

Rehearsal times Thursday morning will be 8-9:30 Temple, 9:30-11 Belton, 11-12:30 Harker Heights and 12:30-2:00 A&M Consolidated. The directors and contest staff will meet with the critic judge at 2:30 p.m. Contest manager is Amy Medina.

Critic judge for the contest will be Kelly Parker. Parker is currently an instructor of theatre at McLennan Community College in Waco. He has a MFA in Acting/Directing from Texas Tech University and BFA in Performance from Baylor University. He has acting and directed professionally and academically in NY and throughout Texas.

Two schools (out of the four) will advance to the area contest, which will be Friday, April 9, at Cedar Park High School.
